Heron’s Nest is owned and operated by Vashon Center for the Arts, a non-profit organization that supports Vashon Island artists and arts programs. The Nest showcases fine art and handcrafted items by more than 100 island artists of all ages who reside full or part-time on Vashon Island or have a personal connection to our community.
When you enter the Nest you’ll be welcomed by co-managers, Kathy Pine and Whitney Rose, or one of our wonderful volunteers. All money earned by Heron’s Nest is either paid directly to local artists or is used to fund Vashon Center for the Arts programs, productions and scholarships.
The mix of eclectic creations–paintings and prints, pottery and tiles, photography, basketry, glass, metal, wood, stone, textiles, jewelry, accessories, soap and a bit of furniture–is completely unique to our corner of Puget Sound. You can also buy tickets to VCA events and become a member of Vashon Center for the arts. Getting a 10% discount on all non-sale Heron’s Nest artwork is just one of the benefits of joining VCA!
Art for everyone!
Heron’s Nest is staffed by our manager and a group of generous volunteers who enjoy creating, supporting and/or being around local art. The store exists (as it has for more than 20 years) thanks to the time donated by our volunteer staff. Drop by or get in touch if you’d like to be a part of this fun group of folks.
After volunteering two months, volunteers receive 20% discount on all non-sale merchandise.
To volunteer, please contact 206.463.5252 or email Kathy.
